About Medavie EMS

Medavie EMS is the corporate support office for a number of operating subsidiaries.  These subsidiaries form the Medavie EMS Group of Companies.  Medavie EMS provides these operations with information technology support, financial accountability, human resources, procurement services, as well as, strategic leadership which ensures that business activities are consistent with the vision, mission and core values.  The Medavie EMS Group of Companies operates in three primary fields:  Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Public Safety Delivery; EMS and Clinical Training; and Mobile and Community Health Solutions.

  • Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) has been a service provider since the inception of the province-wide system in 1998, which involved the amalgamation of 52 separate service providers across Nova Scotia to create a province-wide and integrated system.


 

  • EMC provides integrated ground ambulance, air ambulance and medcial communication management services in Nova Scotia under a long term, performance-based contract.

 

  • The system is comprised of 150 land ambulances (including specialized patient transfer units) and support vehicles, two air ambulances (one fixed wing and one rotary wing), 65 paramedic bases, and approximately 1,000 employees comprised of registered nurses and all levels of paramedics (primary, intermidiate, advanced, critical and extended care paramedics).

 

  • Successful current EMS accreditations including:  The Commission on Accreditation of medical Transport Systems (CAMTS); the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED); the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) - a first in Canada.

  • New Brunswick EMS (NB EMS) has been a service provider since the inception of province-wide system in 2007. NB EMS led the standardization of the system, which involved the amalgamation of 39 separate service providers across New Brunswick.

 

 
  • NB EMS provides integrated ground ambulance, air ambulance, and medical communications management services to the province of New Brunswick under a long term, performance-based contract.
 

 

  • The system is comprised of 134 land ambulances, one air ambulance, 64 base locations, and approximately 1,000 employees including paramedics, flight nurses and emergency medical dispatchers.

 

  IEMS.png
  • Island EMS Inc. (IEMS) has been a service provider since the inception of the province-wide system in 2006. IEMS led the standardization of the system, which involved the amalgamation of five seperate service providers across Prince Edward Island.

 

  • IEMS provides ground ambulance services to the province of Prince Edward Island under a long term, performance-based contract. 

 

  • The system is comprised of 17 land ambulances, six base locations and approximately 110 employees.

  • Medacom Atlantic provides 911 call-taking services across Prince Edward Island (PEI)
  •  Medacom Atlantic provids dispatch for IEMS (processes in excess of  12,000 requests for service on an annual basis.
     
  • Provides dispatch services for, volunteer fire departments and two police agencies.
      
  • The system operates on a performance-based contract with the Government of PEI.

  • Medavie EMS Ontario Muskoka (MEMSO Muskoka) has been a service provider since 2009. 

 

  • MEMSO Muskoka provides ground ambulance management services to the District Municipality of Muskoka under a long term, performance-based contract.  

 

  •  The system is comprised of 13 land ambulances and two support vehicles, five paramedic bases and approximately 80 employees.

  • Medavie EMS Ontario Chatham-Kent (MEMSO Chatham-Kent) has been a service provider since 2012. 

 

  •  MEMSO Chatham-Kent provides ground ambulance management services to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent under a long term, performance-based contract. 

 

  •  The system is comprised of 13 land ambulances and two support vehicles, six paramedic bases and approximately 100 employees.

  • Medavie EMS Elgin Ontario (MEMSEO) has been a service provider since 2014. 

  • MEMSEO provides ground ambulance management services to Elgin County under a long term, performance-based contract.
 
 
  • The system is comprised of ten land ambulances and two support vehicles, six paramedic bases and approximately 85 employees.

  • MD Ambulance joined the Medavie EMS Group of Companies in early 2014.

 

  • MD Ambulance provides emergency medical services in Saskatoon and surrounding areas. 

 

  • The system consists of 21 vehicles and approximately 150 employees.

  • Prairie EMS has been a service provider since 2012.
  
 
  • Prairie EMS provides land ambulance service to a number of communities in eastern Alberta under a long term, performance based contract.
 
 
  • The system consists of 18 land ambulances and administrative vehicles, seven bases and approximately 110 employees.

  • EasCare Ambulance is a US-based subsidiary currently operating in the State of Massachusetts. It joined the Medavie EMS Group of Companies in 2012.
  
 
  • EasCare provides basic life support, advance life support and non-emergency services to a wide range of clients that include hospitals, municipalities and community health centres.
 
 
  • EasCare has over 550 employees working at nine different sites and has nearly 150 system vehicles.

  • MedCare Ambulance is a US-based subsidiary currently operating in the State of Massachusetts.  It joined the Medavie EMS Group of Companies in May of 2014. 
 
  • MedCare provides basic life support, advance life support and non-emergency services to a wide range of clients that include hospitals, municipalities and community health centers.
 
  • MedCare has over 100 employees working at two different sites and has twenty-six system vehicles.

  • Medavie HealthEd College of Paramedicine is a bilingual training institution which specializes in providing a wide-range of clinical based programming.

 

  • Main campuses are located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick with satellite delivery sites located in strategic areas across these provinces.

 

  • Delivers Canadian Medical Association (CMA) accredited Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) training.

 

  • Strong focus on leveraging technology to enhance the student learning experience and to provide programs using an online Learning Management System (LMS).

 

  • Medavie HealthEd College of Paramedicine has contracts with the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) to provide Advanced Emergent Care trainingFrench and English) and Primary Care Paramedic training (English) to military personnel.

  • Medavie HealthworX provides innovative and cost-effective health solutions. Due to significant transformation in the health care field, this resulted in opportunities to fill non-traditional roles.

 

  • Provides a wide array of professional services including consulting, service delivery and management, as well as, program design.

 

  • Services are provided by drawing on the vast experience and expertise within the Medavie EMS Group of Companies.
