Medavie EMS Inc. (Medavie EMS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Medavie Inc., a company doing business as Medavie Blue Cross in Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic Provinces.

With roots dating back to 1943, Medavie Blue Cross, a not-for-profit company, provides prepaid health care insurance to individuals and companies in six provinces, as well as administering health programs on behalf of the governments of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the federal government, the latter on a national basis.

Medavie Blue Cross is focused on the growth of services in the delivery of health care which is achieved through the establishment of an EMS “management entity”, Medavie EMS. Medavie EMS acts as a centralized body which provides strategic planning and direction, technology support, and financial accountability to all current and future Medavie Blue Cross EMS operations.

George McLellan, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Medavie EMS, is responsible to provide vision and leadership consistent with the company’s mission, vision, and core values.

The CEO is supported by corporate vice presidents and operating companies’ senior leaders who work together with regional management and support staff to assist land and air paramedics, flight nurses, clinical staff, communications officers and emergency medical dispatchers in the provision of excellent patient care.
