Medavie EMS (MEMS) is a subsidiary of Medavie Blue Cross. With roots dating back to 1943, Medavie Blue Cross provides health, travel, life and income replacement products to group and individual customers, administers various provincial and federal government-sponsored health programs, and through Medavie EMS and its subsidiary companies such as: Emergency Medical Care Inc., New Brunswick EMS Inc., Island EMS Inc. and Medavie EMS Ontario, manages the ambulance services in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and the Muskoka area of Ontario. MEMS also purchased and manages the Atlantic Paramedic Academy, a Moncton based paramedic school; is developing an integrated 911 communications centre in PEI; and contributes technology expertise and support for a newly launched provincial TeleCare service in Nova Scotia.

Medavie EMS currently provides pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS) with further expanded services focused on horizontal healthcare, communications, and safety related opportunities. Our organization has developed its level of expertise in the provision of successful health care and communications solutions in the current challenging climate of emergency health care delivery. Medavie EMS has invested heavily in developing staff and fostering systems while leveraging off our practical experiences, innovation and use of technology, to facilitate problem solving. Our organization has a history of both experience and success in EMS system design, implementation and development, in Maritime Canada and Ontario.

Medavie EMS continues to expand through a wide range of services outside of the traditional ambulance emergency services. These services include: Medical Escort and Repatriation; 911 and communications centre design and management; Telecare technology design and management; plus a variety of heath care solutions to support provincial and municipal strategic goals for continued long-term health care in their communities.
